YOUNGER, HEALTHIER LOOKING SKIN
The basis of any good skin care program involves the use of quality skin care products and sunscreen. Of course, a healthy diet contributes to your overall health, including that of your skin. Also remember to avoid tobacco products.

In addition, there are a number of cosmetic procedures available to fade out unsightly brown spots or wrinkles. When considering a cosmetic procedure, it is a good idea to have a concept of what goals you'd like to accomplish, and what you're willing to go through to achieve them in terms of cost and discomfort.

For brown spots, a number of topical products are available which contain Hydroquinone (skin bleaching agent), alpha hydroxy acids, and Retinol/Retin-A. Facial peels and FotoFacial procedures may be added for even greater improvement.

LASER FOR FACIAL BLOOD VESSELS
The Iriderm laser is a great treatment for those "road map" veins that occur on the nose and cheeks. The older lasers frequently caused purple spots on the skin, which took several weeks to disappear after the veins were treated. The Iriderm laser has the advantage of removing the veins without causing a bruise. Patients can return to work immediately. Most veins are removed with one to three treatments and with only minimal discomfort.

BOTOX® & Cosmetic Fillers
Injectables provide some of the greatest results in wrinkle correction. The results are immediate and long-lasting. A combination of BOTOX® and a filler, whether it be Restylane®, Perlane® or Juvederm™ produce a natural appearing, more youthful appearance immediately with no downtime. BOTOX® acts to relax the muscle(s) that constrict repeatedly and ultimately allow wrinkles to form. Injectable fillers plump up wrinkles, folds and lines that already exist. In addition, patients who seek a fuller, more "pouty" lip realize beautiful lip augmentation with a cosmetic filler agent.

Aurora FotoFacial RF™ Skin Rejuvenation & Polaris WR Wrinkle Reduction
Dr. Goskowicz is a specialist in Aurora FotoFacial™ Skin Rejuvenation. Using Intense Pulse Light and Radiofrequency energy, these gentle no down-time treatments improve the cosmetic appearance of the face and neck. With 4-6 treatments, patients will see noticeable and significant changes including improvement in pink and brown discoloration, facial veins, pink and brown blemishes, sun damage, age spots, pore size, and acne scarring. For the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles, the Polaris Wrinkle Reduction treatments (five are recommended) combine radiofrequency energy and laser light. For overall skin rejuvenation, a series of both Polaris Wrinkle Reduction and Aurora FotoFacial RF™ treatments are recommended.

MOHS MICROGRAPHIC SURGERY
One of the most rewarding aspects of being a dermatologist is being able to cure the majority of cancers that we treat. While there are many different procedures for treating skin cancers, one method that we are happy to be able to offer to our patients is Mohs micrographic surgery. This technique involves microscopically examining and mapping the skin cancer during the removal process. This process, while time consuming, provides for an exceptionally high cure rate and a smaller defect as a result of the cancer as compared to other therapeutic modalities. In general, only skin cancers with special considerations are recommended for Mohs micrographic surgery.

The Thermage® procedure is the only non-invasive treatment that delivers tighter skin, renewed contours to the face and neck; smoother, more open and alert eyes with less eyelid droop; and smoother skin texture and tone to arms, legs and abdomen. You’ve heard the buzz on Oprah and now Thermage® is available to you right here at Grossmont Dermatology. The radiofrequency technology of Thermage® uniformly heats the deeper collagen layers of the skin causing gradual tightening over 2 to 6 months after treatment. Over time, new and remodeled collagen is produced to further tighten the skin, resulting in healthier, smoother skin and a more youthful appearance. The number of treatments varies between patients. On average, three Thermage® treatments are recommended for optimal improvement.
